Dear Jessica,
This note is to tell you how moved I was when watching Extreme Makeover the other day. Our family has prayed for you and your family and Lori's family,
but it was not until that day, that the message of what truly happened, overcame my heart. The intensity of what you and Lori went through will certainly live on forever. I have three daughters around their 20's and I know I could not begin to feel what Mr. and Mrs . Piestewa have gone through-God Bless them and Keep them all safe.
The reason for this note, is to also let you know that we all continue to support our soldiers and their families during these very difficult times. I do know the difficulty of this war ,with my son-in-law ( Sgt. Derek Evans) in Iraq and my young 20 year old daughter here with their 6 month old daughter. I pray daily for his safe return. I am currently working with a group of people that have planned a 1940's "Swing" dance to benefit the men and women coming home from Iraq or Ahfganistan and their families , or the families of the deceased, when needed. There are two organizations and about five cities sponsoring this dance to raise funds for this wonderful cause. Along with "the Wounded Warrior Organization" and "the Veterans Haven" here in Michigan, the cities of Livonia Wayne, Westland,Garden City, and Inkster are leading this great fund-raiser. Mr. Robert Stottlemeyer the "organizer" has truly master-minded this a big event, with an expected turnout of 1,800-2,000 people. It will truly be a night to remember. A silent auction will be one of the highlights of the night. Our Governor is expected to come with several other "dignitaries" to show their support, while the "Glen Miller Orchestra" , the "Satin Dolls", and the "Army Reserve Band" will delight us with music for the evening. I understand from the organizors that "Sheryl Crow" saw one of our many fliers and wants to attend this event. All profits will go to these two organizations. I am proud to be a part of this committee and a part of our American Dream. While you are far away, your are close to all of our hearts and we will continue to pray for you and the Piestewa Family. Should you be in our area of (Detroit ) our"'Red Carpet" will always be extended to you or your family. We will think of you June 5th and "raise a glass" for everyone here or gone and that "American Dream" we so treasure. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me : Charlotte O'Connell-Zub 43253 Creekview dr. Canton, Michigan,734-844-8418. God Bless you and your Family and all our soldiers that they come home to their wives, husbands, children and "significant others"and this war comes to an end soon. sincerely-Charlotte Zub (I hope in posting this letter-that somehow it reaches you as I am not sure of what "Posting" a new topic means on the sight. i hope that it reaches you or someone else that can get it to you soon. Get well-feel better!
