So I'm driving back to LA from Palm Springs yesterday afternoon. it's been raining lightly...just enough to bring oils to the road surface, but not enough to wash it away.

I'm in the #1 (fast) lane, doing abour 45-50...decide to switch away from the center median, start to drift over to the #2 lane...run through a puddle and immediately hydroplane! Oh S###!

Car jukes a little to the right...I overcompensate (typical unless you've TRAINED for this sort of thing), it jukes back left...I overcompensate again, it jukes to the right and THIS time keeps on going...I fully expected the car to flip when I was doing 50 mpg sideways! Car keeps rotating to the point where I'm going backwards...actually turned a little past the 180 degree mark...I turn the wheel into the direction of the spin and the car whips back to the left. I manage to recover control right at the entrance to an off ramp, which I promptly take, then spend about 5 minutes at the side of the road shaking.

Luckily for myself and other travellers, I was in a great big poclet of nothing when i lost control...no cars near me for sevceral car lengths...and as I ended up crossing 3 lanes of traffic, in a spin, in bad weather, and heading toward an enbankment...I really expected to get hit, flip, or go over the side!

I'm fine...just a little balder!
