Senator Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia says to leave Jessica alone. Today marks 10 weeks since her rescue with no sight or sound of her and it look like none to come anytime soon. I would hate to think that she may feel compelled to make a statement or appearance when she is not yet ready just because of the public interest in her story, me included in that public. I will still follow her story but not expect to hear from her for a long time I think.

'Jessica needs to be left alone,' Rockefeller says

Jessica Lynch, West Virginia's own "home state hero," needs to recover without all the attention she's been getting since she returned to the United States, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., said Monday.
"I have a very strong opinion about Jessica, and my opinion about Jessica is that Jessica needs to be left alone," he told a gathering of senior citizens at the Raleigh County Armory Civic Center.
Although the focus of the senator's speech was Medicare and his dissatisfaction with the Bush administration's tax cut, Rockefeller made a point to tell hundreds in attendance to respect the young soldier who was held prisoner in Iraq.
"I don't think we need to be holding celebrations," Rockefeller said.
"I think we need to be letting her heal, find her own peace, find her own space and get herself together."
He said it is not unusual for military personnel to experience post traumatic stress disorder.
"You cannot have suffered the wounds she suffered, been in isolation, the first woman prisoner of (this) war, and the first woman released since the second world war at the time she was released, without having deep, deep feelings," Rockefeller said.
He added that Lynch's recovery continues at Walter Reed Army Hospital near his office in Washington, D.C., and that he has been in touch with her parents.
"And it's never occurred to me to want to see Jessica. I want to see Jessica, but I don't want to see Jessica because I don't want Jessica to make one single iota of effort that she doesn't need to make," he said. Her also told the group that military efforts in the Middle East have not concluded.
"We are in a sense still at war in Afghanistan and Iraq," Rockefeller said. "An average of about one American soldier has been killed each and every day."

I'm sure that Rockerfeller will also do what he can to make sure that Jessica is awarded medals and remains our national treasure:)

I have read that article as well. As for will the Senator do what is right is left to see. It is become quite apparent in the Washington political scene that this will be interesting. I really hope that she does get the space to decompress like she really needs to. Question is will she get it from the media hungry for answers to the Pentagon. Yes the Pentagon as this is becoming a major headache for them given the misinformation being printed by the media and them questioning what happened.

There is so much misinformation out there on what happened that enough is enought. Her family never asked for the media spotlight and neither did PFC Lynch. They want to get on with making sure that she is healthy and safe and not some puppet for the media to toss around.

The real story, and I do mean the real story, is completely different from the lies published by the BBC and other media. All the lies and speculation does is hurt the family and hurt her. There is no reason why the family should have to answer questions regarding the rescue operation. They need to concentrate on her recovery and if people want to do the leg work they can uncover the truth. It took me over 2 months to do that. She is a real fighter and deserves the love and respect of a nation not the knives of mistruth and lies.

"... the love and respect of a nation not the knives of mistruth and lies."

Dude, that's got to be one of the most quotable things ever said on this board! Nice!

AND I agree with you!
