Jessie is our hero absolutely. Not so much because of something she did, but because of who she is. The press, as usual, are making a real mess of it. Jessie never claimed to be a hero, the press made her to be one because she came at a time when America badly needed one. There are many heros in a war, most of them unsung. Most are heros because of some tangible feat they did. To understand why jessie is America's Hero, one must understand that there are things bigger than any of us. Consider "Tokyo Rose" in WW2. She was sought as a war criminal, although she was never near the battlefield. It was her image, and the profound effect she had on our fighting force that made her loom so big. Jessie is America's hero, not because she wanted to be, not because of any great heroic act she did, but because of the profound impact this petite little girl had on the civilized world. We all rallied behind her, we all loved her, and we will always love her. Let the media morons tear at her with their best shots. They will never tear down an image that has grown bigger than the war itself....an image of a small, frail, face and an equally small voice, that pulled America together when it was most needed.EVE
Jessie, AMERICA MADE YOU IT'S HERO AS YOU WILL EVER BE
