To Jessica Lynch.
I wish you a continued recovery to full health. I admire and respect your courage and honesty in dispelling the myths others concocted about your mission, the fighting and your rescue. You are the same age as my daughter and I think of the many soldiers simply doing the best they can in the chaos of war. It does not need embellishment.
You are a quiet hero for having the courage to do your job as a soldier and then to dispell the hero myths with the truth. Thanks.
Otago.

Appreciate Your Honesty Admiration

I agree that Jessica's complete honesty is the heroic part of the whole story. Jessica was faced with an enormous temptation: the wheels had already been set in motion to hype a fabricated story that would have made the politicians involved and Jessica gain the positive image spin they needed. Also, Jessica knew that she had been given the hand-off by members of the Bush administration to run for a media image touchdown. She knew deep down that by telling that it did not happen that way would let down those in power who could have made her life easy. By being that honest Jessica turned down an invitation to be a part of the in-crowd whom she felt to be corrupt. But, the buck stopped with her...the lies stopped with her.
Jessica's actions have set an example of true citizenship. Those qualities of truth and integrity are inspiring to many. She was able to put aside immediate gratification to stick to her ideals. She has embarrased those in positions of higher authority who do not have her good judgement and character. I can say that I admire her for that.
